Renault Launches Lottery for Limited Kangoo Color Editions in Japan Amidst Astonishing Popularity

TOKYO, Japan – Renault has announced the opening of applications to purchase limited editions of its famous van, the "Kangoo," in the Japanese market through an electronic lottery system to select the lucky winners.

This procedure might raise eyebrows for some, as lottery systems are typically reserved for rare sports cars or limited-production high-performance models, not family vans. However, the Renault Kangoo represents a unique exception in Japan, where over the years it has transformed into one of the French brand's most popular and cherished vehicles. The car boasts a vast and loyal fanbase that appears clearly every year during the "Kangoo Jamboree" event, considered the largest gathering of Renault Kangoo owners and enthusiasts in the world, held regularly at the foot of the famous Mount Fuji.

Responding to this immense enthusiasm, Renault decided to produce and launch two special and limited versions:

1.    Renault Kangoo Color: Only 100 units of this model will be produced, distributed between 40 units equipped with a gasoline engine and 60 units running on a diesel engine.

The "Kangoo Color" is distinguished by a simple and practical exterior design inspired by work vehicles, coming with unpainted black plastic bumpers and 16-inch black steel wheels, in addition to LED headlights and dual hinged rear doors to facilitate loading and unloading operations in tight spaces. The most prominent feature of this edition is its exclusive green color, inspired by dense French forests.

The Kangoo Color is available with two engine options:

• 1.3-liter (non-hybrid) Turbo Gasoline Engine: Generating 129 horsepower (131 European PS) and connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
• 1.5-liter Turbo Diesel Engine: Generating 114 horsepower (116 European PS) and paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission.

All "Kangoo Color" units rely solely on front-wheel drive, as modern generations of this model no longer offer a four-wheel drive option. However, Renault attempted to improve the vehicle's capabilities on slippery and rough roads by equipping it with "Michelin CrossClimate all-season" tires and the "Extended Grip" system to enhance traction and control.

The limited "Kangoo Color" is priced at 4.39 million Japanese yen (approximately $27,600 USD), an increase of 200,000 yen (about $1,300 USD) compared to the standard diesel version in Japan. This model has a length of 4.49 meters, with a cabin that accommodates five passengers.

2.    Renault Grand Kangoo Color: This is the longer version of the previous model, with a length of 4.91 meters. As with its smaller sibling, only 100 units of the "Grand Kangoo Color" will be produced and offered via lottery next month, distributed equally between its two available colors: green and yellow.

The "Grand Kangoo" provides a spacious interior that seats seven passengers, or a massive loading space reaching 3,750 liters when the rear seats are completely removed. This version also features dual rear doors instead of the traditional tailgate to facilitate access to the loading area.

This launch comes to reaffirm once again the special and prestigious status that the Renault Kangoo holds in the hearts and minds of Japanese consumers, who appreciate its practical design, spaciousness, and unique personality.
